The eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and His ears are open unto their prayers: (1 Peter 3:12)
This is an amazing verse of scripture in the Word of God and one of my favorites with emphasis of a strong promise. Peter is quoting from the book of Psalms, chapter 34 and verses 15-16 where we read "and His ears are open unto their cry". When we cry or prayer unto the Lord and God of all mercies, His eyes and ears are both open to see and to hear from those that look and pray to Him. This is God's guarantee. God hears the prayers of those who are called His own.
The second part of this verse reads equally strong and also promises what God will do. Peter goes on to say "but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil". We see here that the face, eyes, and ears of God are turned away from those who do evil because they are not a child of God. This is also God's guarantee. God does not hear the prayers of those who are not called His own.
Many people who are not living a godly life think they can go around doing whatever they want to. They live to please themselves even though their actions might cause harm or discomfort to others but they do not care as long as things keep going their way. Everything might look fine to them but this is careless living that will always bring the roof down all around them. When this happens and they are in a mess of trouble, some people will then call upon God, others call upon Him when they want something; like a promotion, a new car, a vacation, a new house, or a new wife. But God does not promise He is going to help you in these circumstances if you are not a child of the Most High God. Remember what Peter says, "but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil".
However, there is one special prayer for the wicked that God has reserved whereby His eyes and ears are always open and He will never turn His face away. Traditionally it has been labeled the "sinners prayer" while others call it a "repentance prayer". This truth can be found in Romans 10:13 where the Apostle Paul under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit writes "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved". The only prayer that the sinner can pray that God will hear is, "Lord, I admit that I am a sinner, and I accept Jesus Christ as my personal Savior, and ask that He come into my life and save me". This is a prayer that God will hear and God will answer.
You see, it does not depend on what other people think, say, and do, it depends on what you think, say, and do.
The Bible says in Duet 30:19-20 for you to choose between life or death, therefore you get to choose between a life as a victor, or death as a victim.
Consider what the Bible says about fear and hope in His mercy. "Behold, the eye of the Lord is on them that fear Him, on them that hope in His mercy" (Psalm 33:18). Fear and hope are generally thought to be in conflict with each other. In the presence and worship of God they are found side by side in perfect and beautiful harmony. This is because in God Himself all apparent contradictions are reconciled. Listen to what the apostle John had say about fear and love, "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear; because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love." (1 John 4:18).
So let us not forget "The eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and His ears are open unto their prayers" (1 Peter 3:12).
Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all (I Timothy 4:15).
