Righteousness Consciousness

First of all, the purpose in understanding our righteousness in Jesus Christ is to cause us to understand who we are in Christ and our right to be in God’s presence at all times. To better understand this concept is to understand that we can approach God with positive assurance.

For example:
There is now no condemnation to them which have accepted Christ Jesus as their personal savior (Romans 8:1).

There is no inferiority when you have Jesus in your life (Hebrews 4:16).

There is no rejection when you have Jesus in your life (John 6:37).

We have right standing (righteousness) and rights (privileges) in Christ (Col 1:14). Lack of understanding righteousness will hinder our faith in God.


Secondly, righteousness is not something which results from living right. This is because when you are born again you automatically receive God's nature, the Righteousness of God (2 Corth 5:17).

Righteousness is not spiritual development because this would be fruit of the Spirit and righteousness is not a fruit of the Spirit.

Righteousness is a gift you receive at the new birth. (Romans 5:17-18).

Righteousness is not something you earn (Isa 54:17).

The breastplate of righteousness is for our protection from Satan (Eph 6:14).

All God’s people have the same righteous standing with God. He does not love one person more than another. He will not hear, or treat each of us differently (Romans 2:11).

We are told to go boldly into His presence according to Hebrews 4:16. Therefore, we have boldness and access with confidence into His presence by faith in Jesus Christ (Eph 3:12).

Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all (I Timothy 4:15).
